A Fanwood Resident reported that an unknown party stole his bicycle from the bike rack at the northside train station lot on May 26, 2026. The bicycle has an estimated value of $300.00. The matter was forwarded to the Detective Bureau.

May 22nd, 2026, 08:08 AM

Ana Moreno, 29, of Rutherford, was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and subsequently arrested on two active warrants for $1000.00 out of Garfield City and $500.00 out of Westfield. She was released on her own recognizance with two new courts.

Junior Green, 29, of Plainfield, was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and subsequently arrested on an active warrant for $1500.00 out of Woodbridge Township. He was turned over to the Woodbridge Police Department.

Officers made contact with Justin Browne, no permanent address, at LaGrande Park. While there it was determined he had an active warrant for his arrest for $1000 from Franklin Township (Somerset County). He was placed under arrest and turned over to the Franklin Township Police Department.

May 19th, 2026, 11:00 AM

Carle Dangelo, of Scotch Plains, was arrested by the Fanwood Detective Bureau following a package theft investigation. Carle was charged with the following: 2C:20-2B(2)M (Porch Piracy 3rd Degree) and 2C:20-3A (Theft 3rd Degree). Carle was lodged in the Union County Jail.

May 17th, 2026, 10:17 AM

Yesenia Perezheredia, 42, of Plainfield, was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on South Avenue and subsequently arrested on two active warrants totaling $1750.00 out of Piscataway and Aberdeen. She was able to post 10% bail for the Aberdeen warrant and provided a new court date for the Piscataway warrant.

A resident of N Martine Avenue reports that their bicycle was taken from the rear of the residence overnight. The bicycle was valued at $200. The incident was forwarded to the detective bureau.

A citizen reported that an unknown party had damaged his vehicle while it was parked in a lot on South Avenue. The matter is being investigated by the Traffic Bureau.

A resident of Portland Avenue reports an unknown party has been harassing them online and marking derogatory comments.

A resident of South Martine Avenue reported an unknown party contacted him regarding a suspicious Bitcoin charge on his PayPal account. The suspects gained remote access to the victim’s computer. Then they withdrew $98,920 from the victim’s HELOC account. The Fanwood Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.

A resident of Montrose Avenue reported that they were a victim of fraud. Two weeks prior, he was contacted that he won a contest, and in order to receive the prize, he should purchase $1700.00 worth of gift cards to secure his spot. The Fanwood Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.

Officers responded to a private business on South Avenue for a reported burglary. It was determined that an unknown party forcibly entered the office and stole 2 checkbooks, one business credit card, and a bar of silver valued at $770.00. The incident was investigated by the Fanwood Detective Bureau. On May 1, 2026 Clayton Obrien, age 32, of Warren, NJ was arrested and charged with the following: 2C:18-2a(1) 3rd Degree Burglary, 2C:20-3A, 3rd Degree Theft, 2C:20-3B, DP Theft, 2C:21-6H, 3rd Degree Fraudulent Use of Credit Card, and 2C:21-6C(1), 4th Degree Theft of Credit Card. Clayton was lodged in the Essex County Jail.

Officers responded to an active vehicle fire in a private lot behind a business on South Avenue. The Fanwood Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze. Multiple vehicles were damaged but there were no reported injuries.

A resident of N Martine Avenue reported an unidentified delivery driver stole a lawn sign from their front yard. The sign is valued at $50.00.

A resident of Estelle Lane reported she was defrauded out of $1000 through an online scam. The investigation was forwarded to the detective bureau.

April 16th, 2026, 1645 hours

Najee Blevins of East Orange was arrested following a motor vehicle stop after it was determined that he had a $6,000.00 warrant issued by the Hoboken Municipal Court. Boyle was placed under arrest, processed, and released with a new court date.

April 10th, 2026, 06:02 AM

Officers responded to the Citgo Gas Station (339 South Avenue) for a reported burglary. Through investigative means it was determined an unknown drove to the business overnight, pried the attendant booth door open, and stole approximately $1580 in cash from the register, stole the register, and caused damage to the door. This incident is being investigated by the detective bureau.

Matthew Boyle of Scotch Plains was arrested following a motor vehicle stop after it was determined that he had a $750.00 warrant issued by the Scotch Plains Township Municipal Court. Boyle was placed under arrest, processed, and released with a new court date.

Officers responded to a private residence on LaGrande Avenue for a reported package theft. It was determined an unknown male party who was carrying a large orange traffic cone stole three Amazon packages from their front porch totaling $305.00. This incident has been forwarded to the detective bureau.

Tracy Good of Edison was arrested following a motor vehicle stop after it was determined that he had a no-bail warrant issued by the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office for a parole violation. Good was placed under arrest, processed, and transported to the Middlesex County Correctional Facility.

A resident of Shady Lane responded to police headquarters to report fraud and theft. She stated an unknown party hacked into her retirement account and transferred $50,000 into a fraudulent account in her name. This incident has been forwarded to the detective bureau.

Ayanna Ortiz of Garwood was arrested following a motor vehicle stop after it was determined that she had a $750.00 warrant issued by the Scotch Plains Township Municipal Court. Ortiz was placed under arrest, processed, and was able to post partial bail. She was released with a new court date.

A local commuter reported that an unknown party had cut the lock off his bicycle and stolen it from the bike rack at the North Side Train Station Lot. This incident was forwarded to the detective bureau.

Officers responded to a private business for a reported assault. Upon arrival, it was determined that an adult male punched another adult male in the face. It was determined that the suspect was suffering from a mental health episode, and he was voluntarily transported to Trinitas Hospital for a psychological evaluation.

Richard Tancin of Plainfield was arrested following a motor vehicle stop after it was determined that he had a $750.00 warrant issued by the Scotch Plains Township Municipal Court. Tancin was placed under arrest, processed, and released with a new court date.

Officers responded to a private residence on Second Street for a report of fraud. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown party fraudulently cashed the resident’s check in the amount of $1200.00. The matter was turned over to the detective bureau.

Officers respond to Fanwood Liquor (61 South Avenue) for a report of shoplifting. Upon arrival, patrol units spoke with store staff who stated an unknown male stole several alcoholic beverages worth about $20.00 and fled the store.

March 24th, 2026, 13:39 PM

Officers responded to a private residence in the Northwest section of town for a reported overdose. Upon arrival, they located a 47-year-old female unconscious. Officers administered two doses of Narcan. She was later transported to an area hospital.

Christina Yanchalema, of Plainfield, was arrested following a motor vehicle stop after it was determined that she had a $750.00 warrant issued by the Readington Township Municipal Court. Yanchalema was placed under arrest, processed, and then turned over to the Readington Township Police Department.

Arthur Anwander, of Fanwood, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated after a roadside investigation by patrol units. Anwander was placed under arrest, processed, and released to a responsible party. He was charged with various motor vehicle violations and given a mandatory court date. 

March 3rd, 2026, 20:10 PM

Patrol Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Terrill Road and East Second Street. The officer confirmed an active warrant for the driver. Berthony Excellent, a 35-year-old Maplewood resident, was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant from the Watchung Municipal Court. Excellent was , processed and then released on his own recognizance with a new court date to appear.
