Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver, a 45-year-old Green Brook resident, had an outstanding traffic warrant from Piscataway for his arrest. The driver was arrested, processed, and released with a new court date to appear in Piscataway.

The victim explained that while using their computer, a pop-up appeared, prompting them to send a series of payments totaling $22,368.00. These payments were made through Bitcoin and wire transfers. Officers stopped a vehicle after a random license plate check revealed that the registered owner had an active traffic warrant for their arrest. The driver, Tanisha Mays, a 34-year-old resident of Rahway, was arrested for a $1,000 traffic warrant issued by Woodbridge Township, NJ.
